a wee family vacation

this past weekend, we went on a little family trip.
we ran far from the hustle & bustle of our crazy lives to an amazing place that offers lake-front cabins, fishing, trails for miles, woodburning stone fireplaces. a getaway from it all.
and all this, a whopping 14.4 miles away from our front door.
it was wonderful to get away and have some r&r, just the 3 of us. (sadly, the place we stayed at has a no-pet policy, so we had to leave the pookie with our good friends.)
we, of course, spent time sleeping in and having some good family cuddle time (the beds there are AHmazing).

on tuesday, once it warmed up and the sun came out, we decided to get out and go for a walk.
and since i had not yet done any of the 4 workout videos i brought with us or investigate the state-of-the-art fitness facility i swore THIS time i would finally use, i figured my lazy butt needed it.

out there they have trails for days, literally.
we took advantage of a lot of them.

there’s this old, historic (redundant?) “swinging bridge” on the property. it doesn’t actually swing, but it looks like it might.

yeah, i made geoff push the stroller the entire time.
with a 15-lb baby and a 100 pound diaper bag hanging on the handles.
not really.

harps was enjoying the weather as much as we were.

walking down to the marina with mommy. she’d had enough of the stroller.

down at the marina, we decided to take a break and enjoy the sound of the water lapping up against the dock as the sun went down.

it turned out to be a bit of a windy day.
windy enough to blow my daughter’s side mullets around.

it really was the perfect day.
